Great value, 27 Dec. 2007
Bought this after comparing and deliberating over more professional - and expensive - models and I'm glad I did! The kit contains everything you need for a good few sessions of both standard and brazilian waxing and a CD with simple instructions for each.Of course, it's not perfect:The two temperature alternatives are not enough - you need to switch back and forth to keep the optimum temperature - but that's not the end of the world. Also, the pot of soft wax doesn't fit in the machine (well, only about a third does, so I didn't try heating it this way) so you have to transfer some into one of the little pans. This is pretty messy and almost impossible unless you first heat the whole tub! Perhaps you could do this in a microwave but I don't have one, so I used a pan of water on the stove. I'm hoping that if I buy another brand of wax it will be smaller and fit in the warmer without emptying out...but I have yet to find out!

Compact & good value, but an hour to heat up!, 5 Dec. 2011

It is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. I was worried I wouldn't have a place to put it, but it's a nice size. It is very good value for an entire waxing kit. The contents wasn't the exact same as the picture, as instead of the hard wax chunks, there is small bags of wax pellets instead, which I think is better.

I was concerned that I may have to buy another melting pot if I wanted to switch the type of wax, but it turns out that you put the plastic pot of soft wax in the wax heater, and the metal wax pot is for the hard wax, which is really good.

It comes with an instructional DVD, which shows you how to wax different parts of the body with both types of wax, and also how not to wax.

The only criticism I have is that it takes a long time to heat up. It says in the instruction booklet that it takes an hour to heat up the pot of soft wax, which is fair enough because there's a lot of wax in the pot, but I just don't want to wait around this long to start...

I really didn't like this kit!, 5 Sept. 2010

Wow, I'm really surprised at everyone's high scores and positive remarks for this product, I feel a bit out of place writing a negative one but would like to ensure potential buyers have balanced feedback, so will proceed...

I've used home waxing kits before and absolutely loved my first one, but after a few years it got rather messy with all the wax spills and drips that I decided to buy this one (Rio Total Body Waxing kit) as my old product was no longer available.

I have used it in total 7 or 8 times but just cannot get on with it so have finally thrown it away. As other reviewers have said, heating the whole pot of soft wax takes forever (over an hour for it to fully melt), and the alternative of scooping it into the metal pans is not very practical as they provide nothing for you to scoop it with, so you can either use the lollipop-type sticks which are meant for aplying the wax and these usually just snap when used for scooping and you end up getting very...
