Disappointing, 1 Mar. 2013

I'm extremely disappointed with this. It has really long bristles, but I would gladly have traded length for density. The most important quality a shaving brush needs is bristle density so it can hold water and lather. This brush very badly lacks density, and is more suited to being a camera or binocular lens cleaning brush, which is what I'm going to use it for.

The old shaving brush (Wilkinson Sword) was getting a bit tired and worn out. Time for a new one.Quality shaving brushes can be very expensive. As I'm not made of money, I thought I'd give this one a try.The brush is a lot bigger than the 'medium' description would have you believe, certainly bigger than the ones you can buy in the supermarket for around the same price; but after using it a few times, the thinking behind the large size becomes obvious.Badger hair is soft but expensive. Hog bristles are cheaper but coarser. So making the bristles longer gives a softer effect, AND they hold a lot more lather.Yes, I could certainly get used to this.Just one thing (though you may have heard it before) - before using it for the first time, give it a good shampoo and rinse, just to get rid of the animal smell.

Now this is what I call a proper shaving brush,the shaving brush before my last one was a wilkinson sword plastic handle jobbie that you can get on here, or from a well known supermarket chain near you, well after a few uses the bristles folded in on them selves(I foolishly bought a second wilkinson sword one) so I bought the replacement brush from mmy local chemist which has given me a number of years use out of it but the bristles have recently started to fall out in clumps hence buying a replacement from the local supermarket which after one use started to fold in on itself which is why I ended up on amazon looking for a new brush,boy am I glad I did this brush is about the bushiest brush I've ever had it works well at its job in applying the foam to your face and didn't loose bristles or fold in on itself, its one big brush for a medium and is well made so grab one whilst you can... as mentioned by other reviewers it does have a bit of an odour to it but im sure this will go as...
