Reasonable value starter set, 11 May 2011

If you are looking to enter the hairy-chested world of double-edged blade shaving then this starter kit is good value for money. I'll rate the included items individually:

BRUSH: this is a boar-bristle brush and is a good size. Read up on how to condition a new shaving brush and you'll find it soon softens up nicely and provides a good lather, especially if face lathering with the included shave stick, but also does a reasonable job of bowl lathering. Not a bad first brush.

SHAVING SOAP STICK: The Arko brand is a well-known "budget" Turkish brand of shave soap, but I really like it! Damp the end of the stick, rub it over your beard until it begins to leave a bit of lather behind then hit it with the brush. In moments you get a nice thick lather with a really pleasant "old fashioned barber shop" smell. Great for travelling, too, as it's so small and will last ages. Sure, it's not luxurious, but it does the trick.

great shave the fellow moaning about the presentation is just sad who cares how it comes as long as its in working order and everything is there which it was. evrything about this product is great its like a barbers given you a shave the experiance is just fanatastic. thanks again i will be buying my father the same package soon. ohh and the soap smells gorgus sorry bout the spelling.

Having never tried a safety razor before i thought this would be the perfect set to start off with.

The razor feels good, qality, no signs of poor plating or construction. The presentation box seals the deal adding that bit more value for your money, and a nice place to keep it away from harm.

The brush wash a little harsh when first used. however this softened quickly, and in combination with the Arko foam its a pleasure to use.

The foam is self is a great product, smells brilliant and has a proper quality feel. However i found myself cutting some of the block into small chunks, disoliving them in warm water, and leaving ina small bowl for a couple of days, this makes the application of the foam much easier.

Over all i would condider this a great gift for anyone who happens to shave and aprechiates the way things should be done, ther are some remarks on here about the packaing when received. I personally has no porblems and found the...
