Growing old disgracefully!, 28 May 2013

I have used Stargazer colours on and off for a long time. Initially when I was younger they were the only unusual colours that you could buy in my very staid and traditional Bucks town and so we all bought these. The colour range was not as impressive as it is now though. Before we managed to get our mitts on Stargazer colours, we used to use electric blue and green mascara to dye the sides of our cropped heads (a bunch of us had mohicans). Additional colour could be added by growing dreads and weaving in bits of bright wool or ribbons but we were limited as to how freaky we could look. At the time I used to wear a mohawk with long dreads at the back and big spikes on top, a tie dyed wedding dress and army boots. To be honest my clothes taste is still pretty tragic but I have toned down a bit since I have got older, mainly because I have a small child and cannot be bothered with the faff of a high maintenance look. I do though still LOVE having stupidly coloured hair and I enjoy the...

To those who are planning to buy this., 24 Feb. 2010
In order to achieve a better result, than have it wash out far too soon on you or change into a weird colour, apply it to bone dry hair, not wet hair as they say. Was told to do this by someone who continuously dyed her hair with it and when I did do it, my hair turned a nice shade of purple. Now I do not have blonde hair. I have black hair actually, so that was definitely nice to have something colour over it as it is hard to dye out.Overall, I recommend this product but heed the advice first. Applying it to wet hair is a big no no, unless you want it to fade unbelievably quick.

Technique, 6 Mar. 2013

As with all hair care products and dyes/stains, the end result will vary from person to person as no two heads of hair are the same.

I use this product to create flashes of colour, not covering all my hair and I worked out a technique that suits me.

(I pre bleached my hair section which gives much, much better results. The lighter the better even if you have to leave bleach on for 3-4 hours, it's worth it. The damage bleach does is not obvious on a small section of hair so if you are covering your whole head I'd suggest going to a professional).

First wash your hair and let it dry.

Select your hair section and apply product (make sure the hair is dry it gives better colour).

Wrap covered section in foil and pin it to your head (I use baking foil because it doesn't react with my hair but always do a small test incase it tarnishes and never use ordinary foil while bleaching!).

Wait at least 30mins (I sat beside a fireplace while I...
