I've been a hardcore Hollywood fan for some years now, having experimented with shaving (effective, but stubbly and some painful nicks and cuts), professional waxing (effective, painful but gets expensive), and finally using an epilator (about 10 times more painful than waxing, and 10 times slower - quite frankly, a terrible combination. If you ever want to experience your "down-there-hair" being ripped out one by one by a machine, then epilating is the one for you).
I'm not an experienced waxer, but managed to do a Hollywood on myself in about an hour. It gets MOST hair out, but not all. The second time I did it removed more hair and, as with everything, the more you do it, the better your technique gets.
It hurt the first time, yes, but less than professional waxing. Certainly less than epilating. I think you get so focused on pulling the cloth strip at the right angle that you stop noticing the pain. Now I barely feel it. I bought extra strips (disposable ones) so...
