Cheap and good quality, 1 April 2013

I have a couple of #3 scalpel handles I've used for craft work for ages, with associated ancient scalpel blades that were relatively sharp, but quite old. So I splashed out on a box of new blades and they are great. The blades come in individual paper wraps, collated into foil packs of 5 wraps. You may well need a fitting tool to fit them safely, but I'm prety dextrous and can fit them with care. I expect I now have enough #3 handle scalpel blades to last me the rest of my life, which is not bad for araound a tenner. The No 10A blade is a good choce for craft work with it's short, angled blade. The longer blades can be fragile in a #3 handle size and when they snap they can spring off undeseriably. (You really do not want scalpel fragments boinging anywhere!)WARNING! When scalpels and fingers meet, things can go very bad, very quickly. Treat them with the utmost of respect.

Firstly the product arrived within a couple of days, well packaged and shrink wrapped sealed. I know this is a product review, but that's a good seller (blades and knives direct). Even if you don't think you're familiar with Swann Morton, you'll probably recognise the signature box with the blue band and the scripted Swann-Morton font straight away. I use these blades at work for a whole host of different crafting tasks - in my opinion they're the best. In combination with a decent handle, they're just incredibly useful things to have around you. I nearly fainted when I saw how much our stationery company wanted for this box of 100 blades, so I ordered them from Amazon - and I'm very glad I did!

Brilliant blades and amazing value. I do a lot of miniature modelling (war hammer 40k) and these are excellent - I find the 10a blade is the perfect choice and the value for money with 100 blades for this price is incredible compared to a lot of other craft knives. The knives are each individually wrapped in paper and then packed into small groups in a foil wrapping. They can be a little tricky to fit and they are very sharp. Note you will need the fixed type handle (I got the Swann Morton 3 Scalpel Handle Swann Morton no3 scalpel handle - Stainless Steel - Number 3) as they won't go into the screw type handle due to the length and shape of the fitting. You may want to look for a tutorial on how to fit before buying but I found it pretty simple.
