Lathers-up nicely, 8 July 2013

I was surprised by this product, and not in a bad way! It is the first shaving stick I have bought, and I first used it when travelling recently. I was very surprised by the quality of the lather: you wash your face, smear this stuff on the bristles, stir your face up with a shaving brush and - hey presto! - one lathered face. I was half expecting the sort of foam that disappears almost as fast as a politician's promises. Instead, it was a rich, creamy, foam that did the job nicely. My bristles are light-to-medium, so I am not sure how you would fare if you have a strong beard; but if you want something that's not an aerosol and compact enough to pack away neatly in a sponge bag, I'd say give it a go. As per the photo, the stick is protected by an outer plastic sheath - a bit like a giant lipstick container. Leaves the face feeling soft, and has a low-key perfume.

Excellent as a travel soap, 19 April 2014

I primarily use this when I'm away from home:Simple to use and it's very easy to create a lather on the face with your shaving brush. Great scent too. Leaves the skin in good condition too with no pastiness or white residue. I've mine for well over a year permanently in my travel bag. I've used during any overnight stay with no deterioration in performance.On the shaving fora (forums) this shave stick (as well as the shave soap) is rated very highly.

Super Shaving Soap Stick, 5 Jun. 2015

Hard to get a decent wet shave soap stick in stores/supermarkets these days - the normal cheap ones broadly available from them are small and thin without practical holders/containers. I used to use Old Spice ones which were superb - nice and chunky with a good strong container which had a screw on top, and let you push the soap stick up from the base of the holder to use. Perfect for use in a travel bag too. Unfortunately Old Spice no longer appear to make this item, so I am pleased to have found a very similar substitute in this other long standing brand name. Great product with the typical pleasant Tabac smell. Thank God for the Internet and Amazon. Quite expensive compared to the cheap ones, but worth it if you value quality.
