Nice idea but there are issues, 4 Jun. 2017
I liked the idea of a small curling tong with a view to taking it on holiday or weekends away. Unfortunately it is too short for my liking. I found the wand too short to get a really nice curl and because you can only get about an inch of hair along the barrel, it takes much longer than a full sized curling tong. Worse still, both times that I have used them, I have ended up burning a finger because the handle is so short that it is very easy to stray onto the heated barrel: even a glancing touch at 240C is enough to create a blister! I don't have abnormally large hands, it is just that the handle is short. The tong doesn't come with a protective mat although it does have a built-in rest: I didn't think it was very good and it doesn't keep the hot barrel that far off the surface it is sitting on and is easy to knock.

Lightweight., 12 Jun. 2017

The main problem with the Toni&Guy TGIR1929 Style Fix Curler is that it is a little too small.

This means that you can only do a small amount of hair at a time and as such, it seems to take three times as long.

You also have to be ultra careful in using this wand. It is far too easy to make contact with the hot part and 210 C and your skin do not mix well.

It's designed to be ultra portable and to be taken on the move.

It heats up quickly but takes a long time to be safe to carry away.

This is a big drawback if you are in a hurry.

The stand to my mind is a little too lightweight and you really do have to ensure that you watch out where you place it. There is no protective heat mat so if in doubt always insulate the wand from delicate surfaces.

Pluses are.

It has worldwide voltage so you can use it abroad with aplomb.

It has a long 5-year guarantee so you need to hold onto your receipt in case of a claim.

But with...

Wobbly stand and a bit short, 3 Jun. 2017

It's been a while since I've used a styling wand to curl my hair (we used to call them curling tongs back in the day...) so was very interested to see how they had come on over the years. In terms of the wand itself it is a little short to be honest. I think that is because this is designed to be able to fit into your handbag for styling on the go. But the wand takes a while to cool down after you have used it so how practical this is for styling on the go I'm not really sure. There is no protective case to shield you from the heat so you would just have to wait quite a while until they were cool and safe enough to put in your bag. That doesn't sound too practical to me. And the stand which is supposed to be a safety stand to prop them up on when they ate hot is very flimsy and doesn't work very well at all. The effect the wand produces in terms of curl is good and easy to achieve, but it would be easier if it was a bit longer. So overall I don't think this is much better than the...
