These straighteners are really poorly designed. The heat plates don't meet in the middle apart from at the very top, making them almost impossible use properly without pretty much pulling out your hair. Almost looks like a good deal with the price but it really isn't. Avoid.

I bought this thing about one month ago and it just keep turning itself off and making weird noises when I turn it on. Keep away from this, it's poorly made, I have seen chinese straightener's for half of the price doing a better job than this one.

I have compared the ‘TGST2989UK Definition Straightener Slim Definer’ with appliances used by daughters and granddaughters, and I have to record that the Toni & Guy product rates hardly average – maybe because it is quite specialist. The straighteners seem to work best on shorter hair. They are fairly heavy in use with a cumbersome handle, quite narrow in operation, and it is not easy to grip the hair.However the plates heat up quickly and there is variable temperature control – perhaps more suited to styling rather than straightening. I appreciate the aim of the straighteners may be to create styles with definition rather than just straighten hair, but I believe they fall short of the mark. I am unsure of what product information means by “Ceramic Tourmaline Colour Lock Technology” but it would have to be fantastic to lead to a star rating above average – as indicated by 3-stars awarded.
