Let's not fool ourselves: It is not a shaving soap. That being said this product is however very recommendable to everybody who for any reason should feel uncomfortable using "The Real Thing", i.e. as an alternative to shaving soap. (I for instance have very sensitive skin and used to get shaving burns just by thinking of shaving - well not any more, that's for sure).
This gel leathers up beautifully into a fine, long lasting foam and leaves your skin as smooth as an iced road in winter (even when using a cheap disposable razor, as I've tried). One may be forgiven for thinking that its price tends to be a tad to the high side BUT you only need a very small amount of it; spreading it directly onto the skin and working it into a foam in situ appears to be the method of choice.
But most importanly: it gives you so much more pleasure than any of the usual brands you'd get at your high street chemist's (and yes, I've tried them virtually all, from Gillette to...
