Lovely colour, 25 May 2015

Great colour. I just used two packs of those for the first time on my very long and thick hair.

For me, the application was really easy and felt much faster than with other products. Even in the past I have applied colour with a brush first to the roots and then smoothed through the lengths, so the process itself was nothing new for me. But having the colour in a thicker consistency and in a little bowl was much easier than the standard bottles that you usually get.

I'm very pleased with the colour result. The previous times, especially last time, when I used other brands, the colour turned out much darker than expected and left me with almost black hair instead of dark brown. So this time I picked medium brown instead of dark brown on purpose to avoid the same thing happening again. Glad I did. I really like the golden shimmer this colour brings. Even in the lengths which have been coloured many times over and over I feel like there are more highlights there now than there...

Decent home dye that gives nice even result. Would try this again., 19 Feb. 2015

The short of it: (see before and after pics)

Pros: smells lovely, very good coverage and even colouring, good brush, hair is manageable and soft after.

Cons: not good to transition to a darker blonde, bit of a faff to do sectioning at first. This shade a touch too warm and red toned for me, but would try another blonde in range.

I've been dyeing my hair for about 16 years and have tried all types and all colours from inky black to white platinum but I always settle back to a light blonde. This is a pleasant mid-light blonde, a touch more honey than I usually try but no one really does a good ashy blonde anymore.

The two stages method is not unfamiliar, some Loreal blonde dyes have used a similar technique for some time, and it does help 'lift' root growth in already processed hair and reduce the risk of damage to the already dyed lengths, some thing to be welcomed if you have blonde ambitions.

The sectioning method is though a bit of a faff if...

A little faffy, but worth it, 4 April 2015

Unlike most home dyes, this doesn't all go into one bottle for a one step application that you put in then wash out, using the provided conditioner to render it soft and lovely. This one is a two step application, rather like the method used in salaons. The directions for mixing and applying are very easy to follow, though with my long hair it was necessary to have my son help me by doing the sectioning and applying the mixture. Using the brush, you paint the mixture onto your roots, from front of the head and working on down along the sides and back. this used up most of the dye, with about a quarter left, so after 20 minutes have passed, you simply snip open the serum and mix it into the reamining dye. Now, having hair long enugh to sit on, this obviously was not going to be enough dye, so we actually took a second box and mixed it withthe serum straight off. We applied the mixture from the first box onto the corwn of my head towards the ends as far as it would go, then the second...
