Nice clippers, but they don’t go short enough for me (it’s 0.5mm or 4mm-40mm), 7 Sept. 2015

These clippers are fine, but they aren’t for me. Basically, I cut my hair to 3mm, or a ‘Number 1’ (and have done for years, through several sets of clippers), and these clippers don’t do that. Although they say 0.5mm-40mm, there is a crucial gap. You can either cut without any attachments, which is really short (essentially totally bald) at 0.5mm. Or you can use the attachments, the shortest of which is 4mm. This may be a relatively pedantic for anyone who cuts their hair longer, but for me it’s just how I have my hair, so these basically don’t do the job, and I think that the description is a bit misleading.

Having said that, as long as you know that and it doesn’t bother you, these are a decent product. One neat idea is that instead of having a different attachment for each length, there are two here, which you adjust once they’re on. Very disappointed with these. Extremely light but feel of insubstantial construction. Heavy vibration and something rattling loose inside body. Cutters also pulled at hair and seemed very slow at cutting. Returned for refund.

Wahl is certainly one of the better brands when it comes to tools for cutting hair. I bought another of their lithium powered devices last year and have been impressed by its ability to charge fast and then retain it for a long time whilst still delivering a very good cutting performance. This one comes complete with a very handy storage pouch which is big enough to hold the charger and other accessories as well as the clipper which makes a nice change. Like many people I seem to be accumulating various chargers and cables but with no good way to identify what they are supposed to be used with, so the fact that all of this can be kept together is a bonus.
