Good shave, blades last a long time, 31 Jan. 2013

I've been using the Hydro 5 razor for about 18 months now, I have tried the equivalent Gillette Fusion razor which is also good but I prefer this product myself. I find the shave more effective with the Wilkinson sword.

It's not unrealistic to get 4/5 weeks out of a single blade (for me moderate beard growth) The hydro 5 gives a good shave and I've been very pleased with this since using it. The hydro shaving foam which I sometimes use (it's again more expensive) is also a good match for this it really does help to reduce that dry skin feeling after a shave, but I use other shaving foams as well. If you're looking for a decent budget shaving foam I'd suggest trying Aldi's one it's actually quite good and effectively softens the hair prior to shaving and costs very little. (Aldi's razors are not great though)

Superb razor - most comfortable ever, 1 Mar. 2012

Happened to be away from home and realised I had forgotten my Gillette Fusion.As this was cheaper to buy as a temporary replacement, I picked it up, and was very glad I did.The head of the razor looks slightly narrower than the Fusion, but not by much. However, I found that the shave itself was far more comfortable. I thought the Fusion was pretty good, but this feels like a closer, smoother shave. neck had a couple of red blotches the first time I used it, but really did give a feeling of gliding over my face, and that was with a fair bit of stubble.This razor and it's blades are a fair bit cheaper than the Gillette Fusion - even if they were the same price, I wouldn't go back to it - but not only better but also cheaper means this is my new favourite!

An innovation in shaving, 19 Dec. 2010

Got to say that provided you dont have a day or two's growth then these give a really smooth and close shave, much better than the nearest Gillette equivalent.

Far from being another mere gimic the hydro-strip idea seems to work the very best and cuts down on the need for any kind of moisturiser or aftershave skin treatment. Its also something which, combined with the sharpness of the blades, allows for a really quick but also a very close shave.

If you're more used with an electric razor it could take some practice to use without cutting yourself, I've always prefered blades to electric razors so didnt have a problem but I know of people who have been used with the electric shave who've cut themselves, not seriously but just the sorts of nicks its possible to get. The point is its easy done with a blade as sharp as this one.

My only complaint or downside would be questioning why we've now for five seperate blades, surely you reach a tipping point, I...
