Something that works and doesn't harm your scalp! Finally, 27 Feb. 2017

I loved it

Positive: My base was a mixture of gray and bleached hair ( when the chemical dye had faded and the hair looked without color - brassy yellow). I decided to give up my ash tone for something warmer but not red. The color I got was a nice hazel. Success in 30 mins ( like I said perhaps my hair was in need of color)

- health - My hair looks heavier, I haven't felt any discomfort, au contraire my hair feels good.

Cons: some people like it some may hate it - please do this on a Friday night that you won't be out or Saturday morning...etc. Though this was the first time I did not inundate my house with chemicals or I did not cause a mess as some said.... the smell can be strong for some as 'HERBS' like when you moan your loan. This smell is a tiny price to pay for gorgeous, heavier and healthier hair as I felt once I applied it. As a matter of fact I was losing lots of hair due to the frequent chemicals dye in attempts to cover my greys.

This mixes to a smooth paste due to its fine consistency. To achieve the best results my wife mixes with a bottle of lemon juice 250ml, covers with cling film and leaves in a warm place for 24 hours. This is usually sufficient time for dye release. After which she applies the henna to wet hair and leaves on for 4hours. She washes it out with water and conditioner only, as the hair is dry from the lemon juice. She finds the colour continues to develop until the following day. If you are covering greys you may need to use the 2 step process to achieve a dark brown/black shade. She applies Khadi Pure Indigo Black (the blue box) mixed with warm water straight after washing the red henna out, she leaves on for 1hour.

Good dye bad smell, 14 Sept. 2016
After years of using chemical dyes, I had a bad reaction to ppd in my 40's and was distraught as did not want to go grey/partly white at 42. Used Lush Rouge Henna on first as I read that the red takes better on white/grey. Looked ok but the roots (white bits) were very bright. Used this (dark brown) in the hope of toning it down a bit. Seems to have worked - hair mellower and good condition, thick - although only 2nd day and not washed yet.Only so is smell. Like a cigarette factory (I worked in one once and remember), pretty gross. Would use again though.
